Description：The oral epithelium is a mucous layer in the mouth consisting of stratified squamous epithelial cells either keratinized or nonkeratinized. The oral epithelium and an underlying layer of lamina propria together form the mucosal epithelium that act as a physical barrier to external environment. For instance, the oral gingival epithelium act as a main barrier against bacterial biofilm that triggers gingivitis and periodontitis. Human primary oral epithelial cells are mainly distributed in the buccal part of oral cavity and undergoes continual regeneration to compensate for the damage caused by daily chewing.；
